At Waverly Academy, we believe that clothes do not define a person. The wearing of a uniform allows everyone to be seen for who they are, not by what they have. The purpose of a uniform is a means of consistency in student dress, while keeping costs to a minimum. It also reduces the problem of competitive dressing. Students, unless otherwise notified by Administration, will wear the school uniform.
Waverly students are expected to keep themselves well-groomed and neatly dressed at all times. A clean and healthy appearance is important. Any form of dress or hair style which is considered by the Administration to be contrary to good hygiene or which is a distraction or disruptive in appearance and detrimental to the purpose or conduct of the school will not be permitted. All clothing must be clean, neatly pressed, and in good repair. No ripped, torn, or defaced items may be worn.
All students at Waverly are required to wear a school uniform at all times while attending school or any school-sponsored activity during the school day.
A. Basic Uniform
The basic uniform is a short or long-sleeved, collared, solid colored shirt, with school logo; skirt, or skort; official uniform tie, black shoes, and white knee-hi socks.
Shirts must cover the midriff, back, and sides at all times; should be should be tucked in, fastened with no visible cleavage or undergarments.
Skirts/Skorts shall be worn no shorter than two inches above the knee.
B. Optional Uniform
Students may wear coats, jackets, or other appropriate outer garments when necessary due to weather conditions. While inside the building, students may wear official uniform sweaters, vests, and blazers with school logo.
C. Shoes
Shoes must be safe and appropriate. Students must wear black shoes that are closed toe and closed heel. Students may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels; and platforms, sandals, flip flops, crocs or jellies are not permitted.
Clothing must be the appropriate size for the student, not be oversized or undersized. The waist of the garment shall be worn so that the waistband is worn at the waist and not below the waist.
